KIRKLEES COUNCIL ARE ADVERTISING THIS ROLE ON BEHALF OF FUSION HOUSING.

Location:
Huddersfield (Pearl House)

As an Assessment & Advice Guider you will undertake Initial Assessments to identify the needs of our clients.

You will provide information and advice that is "right first time", assisting and empowering the customer to resolve their enquiry or problem.

You will provide short term support to clients with housing, financial and support needs and will assist with benefit claims and budgeting.

You will need the relevant knowledge and experience relating to advice and homelessness and support, have a customer-focused attitude and a desire to resolve issues and find solutions to maximise the options and opportunities available to people.


You must also be dynamic and creative with excellent communication and negotiating skills and have the ability to work in a busy, fast paced environment with a commitment to helping vulnerable people.


The role includes:


  • Sitting down with people, assessing their needs and working together address issues and access appropriate support provision.
  • Being understanding and supportive when times are tough; you'll become that initial friendly face for someone to talk and listen to.
  • Having difficult conversations with the people you support; being open and honest about the options available to them and managing client expectations.
  • Working with people from different parts of the community, understanding cultural and individual differences and how this affects their housing need.
  • Knowledge of the housing system and experience of working with people who may struggle with their mental/physical wellbeing, substance use, homelessness.
  • Having a positive and enthusiastic attitude and a flexible approach to decrease client dependence on crisis support.
  • Working in a closeknit team who are supportive of each other and happy to get stuck in to support other Fusion teams.
