Overall Purpose of the Job:

A Postgraduate research position is available at the University of Manchester funded by a UKSA National Space Innovation Programme (NSIP) funded project: Atmosphere Breathing Electric Propulsion (ABEP) Intake End-to-End Simulation & Design (ABEP-SID).

This role will focus on the development of a numerical simulation tool for ABEP intakes that incorporates end-to-end system dependencies.

Under the guidance of Dr Katharine Smith, the UoM-PI for the project, you will be working with a variety of project partners to develop simulation methods and use these to simulate ABEP intake designs.

Key aspects of the role include:

To support research activities in the Space Systems Research group in the School of Engineering focused on Very Low Earth Orbit (VLEO) satellite technology development.
Support the development of suitable simulation tools to enable the execution of endtoend ABEP intake simulation.
