The Volunteer Services Team has vibrant, busy and friendly offices at each of the hospital sites.


The team work hard to support volunteers in performing their many and varied roles and Administrative Support is a key function of this, whether ordering uniforms, documenting volunteering hours or assisting with queries.


This role will include daily weekly and monthly regular tasks such as data input and in person and phone contact with volunteers.

It will also involve assisting at events and activities involving volunteers and many other areas.

The apprenticeship offers the opportunity to develop skills and knowledge in a busy and varied environment.

Communication and customer service are an integral part of the role and self motivation and a willingness to have a flexible approach to learning and work is essential.

To qualify for the apprenticeship role the minimum criteria is:

  • You must have GCSE in English and Maths
Have not completed an apprenticeship at the same level and sector in the past.


You will work alongside existing administrative staff with support and direction to enable you to contribute to the delivery of a comprehensive volunteer service.

You will have the opportunity to understand a range of different projects and work with a diverse range of volunteers, staff and the public.


To support a varied range of volunteer activities within the Trust through administrative tasks that support both volunteers and the staff within the team.

Under supervision to undertake phone calls to potential and actual volunteers to share and gain information relevant to their volunteering role.

To provide support the Administrator with maintenance of stock, supplies and equipment

To assist with the management of Volunteer Uniforms including learning about ordering, storage, laundering and management of systems recording uniform deposits

To assist with the booking and planning of training sessions and preparing resources for trainers.

To provide support for all Volunteer Service Staff with photocopying, collating, mailouts and other admin tasks.

To work alongside the team to cover to maintain opening hours of volunteer services office on each site

To work towards administering the online e-greetings service

To accurately and appropriately record information both on paper and electronically following training and support

To develop the knowledge skills and confidence to accurately input data to enable the use of statistical data to inform future development of the service
