Description
As our Value Implementation Lead you will drive and own a programme of reviews across NHSBSA. This role is critical in ensuring that we understand and drive value and efficiency.

The post holder will be responsible for organising and facilitating end-to-end service reviews with a matrix managed team of 3-4 people across the organisation, making sure we identify and keep track of evidence as well as deliver high-quality reports and recommendations that will facilitate the continuous improvement of NHSBSA services.

The post holder will report to the Head of Strategic Initiatives and Transformation and support the wider NHSBSA.


The role requires an individual who can interpret complex information and manage competing deadlines and priorities as well as constructively challenging senior stakeholders.


In this role, you are accountable for:

Leading and shaping the programme of end-to-end service reviews across all NHSBSA services in a timely, efficient, and proportionate manner following an adapted assessment methodology.

Providing direction and coaching to the review team through matrix management of a team of 3-4 people across the organisation; providing clear leadership, inspiring them to be forward thinking in delivering the review by embracing and driving change, identifying opportunity for efficiency, and presenting robust options to the business to help achieve strategic objectives.

Leading the scoping of the review to identify key stakeholders, ensuring a representative and proportionate number of stakeholders are engaged and given the opportunity to feed into the review as well as to adapt requirements to each service area.


Leading the assessment, developing hypothesis, and articulating evidence-based findings in a clear, objective, and proportionate manner to form the review; this may include looking at benchmarking (including any international examples) and policy.

Leading the team in looking beyond the evidence and thinking innovatively to seek out alternative viewpoints or different delivery options by challenging existing assumptions and questioning the way things are done.

Ensuring a collaborative, impartial and open approach is taken towards the review while balancing the correct level of detail is shared as some information will be highly complex and sensitive.

Engaging with key stakeholder to keeping them sighted on progress, emerging findings, recommendations, and actions.


Delivering timely, detailed, and high-quality set of findings, recommendations, and actions, which outline analysis of the service and facilitate the continuous improvements.

Communicating and presenting analysis effectively at all relevant levels verbally and in writing. Ensuring the information provided is accessible and understandable to a wide audience and conforms to high standards. Keeping a clear communication channel between the team, the steering group and the Leadership Teams, raising concerns where necessary.


Acting as the programme ambassador and working with the Communication Team to accentuate to senior managers and the rest of the organisation the importance of the programme.

Keeping informed of wider organisation and system key priorities and ensure the programme is linking in with other initiatives. Completing a lessons learnt at the end of each review to enrich the process and future end-to-end service reviews. Responsible for the programme of reviews budget securing adequate number of reviews scheduled according to allocated resources.

Forging positive relationships by working collaboratively with NHSBSA colleagues, developing trusted business relationships.
