We are looking for a Midday Supervisor. This is an exciting opportunity to join Bandonh Hill Primary School and become an integral member of the team.

General Purpose of the job:

under the direction of the Senior Midday Supervisor, to provide supervision on the premises during the midday break and to be involved in encouraging children in purposeful play and social skills activities.

Main responsibilities:

  • General supervision of children during the lunch period in the dining hall, playground and the escorting of children to and from the dining hall. In the event of poor weather, supervising children in the classroom, if required.
  • Ensuring children follow the school's Core Values and Behaviour Policy, so that children socialise with their peers in a positive way.
  • Encouragement of purposeful play and social skills activities.
  • In following the school's Behaviour Policy, remaining vigilant so that both positive praise and sanctions are given appropriately.
  • Supervising children washing hands etc. before eating, as required. Encouraging children's awareness of healthy eating.
  • Reporting difficult children and unruly behaviour to the Senior Midday Supervisor or SLT/SMT.

You will need:

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to maintain positive working relationships with colleagues and managers
  • Self motivated and ability to use initiative
  • Commitment to working within the School's Safeguarding Policy and Procedures
  • Good organisational and ability to supervise simple games for groups of children
  • Demonstrate the ability to work as part of a team under the direction of the senior midday supervisor
