We are looking to recruit a Legal Cashier for a well-regarded national law firm based in Bristol

Hybrid working is available and there is excellent scope for career progression with this opportunity.


You will be responsible for:

  • Compliance with Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) Accounts Rules
  • Ensuring that office account receipts are processed and accurately within 48 hours of receipt, and that any nonoffice related receipts are transferred to client account or returned to sender under the unallocated receipts policy.
  • Ensuring that client account receipts are processed promptly and accurately with an appropriate narrative to help ensure client balances can be actioned without delay
  • Reporting and seeking authorisation of unpaid disbursements noted for payment, ensuring that disbursements are either paid as authorised or transferred to client account
  • Promptly processing interaccount transfers
  • Reporting any breaches to Accounts Manager
  • Undertaking daily bank functions to include daily banking, reconciliation and recording of daily cheque logs; investigating and allocating electronic payments received.
  • Controlling designated deposit accounts and related transactions
  • Ensuring that electronic payments are processed promptly and accurately in accordance with the firm's electronic payment policy ensuring the reason for payment is appropriate and relevant to the underlying matter
  • Completing daily bank reconciliations for all accounts; investigating/reporting any identified errors
  • Processing and printing authorised cheque requests
  • Carrying out interest calculations on client matters ledgers ensuring that interest is posted and paid to clients in accordance with the firm's interest policy.
  • Verifying and processing disbursements, including disbursement transfers, promptly and accurately as requested in accordance with UK VAT rules
  • Ensuring all processes are carried out in accordance with the firm's Service Level Agreement (SLA)

This role is right for you if:

  • You will be approachable, proactive, professional, adaptable and flexible.
  • You will have previous experience in a legal cashiering or similar role, with good knowledge of Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) Accounts Rules.
  • You will have sound IT skills including Microsoft Office and Internet Explorer and have experience of Elite Enterprise or similar system, document management systems and Corporate online banking.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral are essential for this role.
  • A minimum of 6 GCSE passes at grade C or above (or equivalent), including English and Maths.
