Out of School Youth Academic Skills Instructor

  • LOCATION: PA CareerLink in Trevose, PA with frequent travel throughout Bucks County including but not limited to the Upper Bucks Campus in Perkasie, PA
  • Under the supervision of the Youth Workforce Program Manager, OutofSchool Youth, the fulltime Academic Skills Instructor is responsible for:
Establishing clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects and communicate those objectives to students; document lesson plans.

  • Preparing materials and classroom for class activities.
  • Observing and assessing students to determine qualifications, limitations, abilities, interests, barriers, and other individual characteristics.
  • Adapting teaching methods and instructional materials, be that inperson or virtually, to meet students' varying needs, abilities, and interests
  • Assigning, observing and evaluating students' work to determine progress and making suggestions for improvement.
  • Preparing students for further education by encouraging them to explore learning opportunities and help motivate them to persevere with challenging tasks.
  • Maintaining accurate and complete physical and digital student records
  • Preparing and administering tests to assess educational needs and progress.
  • Providing information about and guidance for the General Equivalency Diploma (GED) or HiSET examination; proctoring predictor tests and advising students on when to take the actual examinations to achieve High School Equivalency.
  • Attending weekly staff meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Salary:

  • Bachelor's Degree and teaching experience
  • Ability to work with diverse students both individually and in a group setting.
  • Ability to facilitate increases in students' Educational Functioning Levels in reading and math.
  • Ability to develop, institute and mange individual student study plans by providing the tools and resources for students to work independently to attain the skills and knowledge needed for successful completion of core goals.
  • Superior oral and written communication.
  • General understanding of Adult Learning Theory and practices.
  • Travel may be necessary for the program to other BCCC campuses. Reliable transportation is required. Travel expenses are reimbursed based on BCCC policy,
  • Ability to life 50 lbs
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience teaching adults.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Application (Office 365) strongly preferred.
  • Experienced in administering the Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE) a plus
  • Additional Information:
This position is currently operating on a hybrid schedule, with an on-campus/in office presence 3 days a week.
