Job Introduction

This role has a starting salary of £27,897 per annum, based on a 36-hour working week.


We are excited to be hiring a new
Health and Safety Assistant to join our fantastic Health and Safety team.

Whilst the team is based in Fairmount House, Leatherhead, we promote a
hybrid approach to working meeting collaboratively when required.

You will also be required to travel to other council buildings and locations as part of the role.

About the Team


The Health and Safety Service is part of People and Change which supports the council in achieving its ambitions for the benefit of Surrey employees and residents by working directly with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.


The aim of the Health and Safety Service is to deliver high quality advice, guidance and support enabling the council and our partners to meet their legal and moral obligations.


About the Role


As part of the team, you will be providing effective and efficient business support, as well as supporting the delivery of a range of health and safety activities and initiatives across the council.


A key part of the role will require building relationships with the wider health, safety, and wellbeing teams, as well as internal and external partners to achieve the council's ambitions.

The role requires good written and verbal communication, as well as good organisational and analytical skills. You will also need to work independently and as part of a team.


Shortlisting Criteria

  • Strong IT skills with a willingness to learn a variety of different software systems
  • Experience working successfully with internal and external teams to improve practice
  • An interest in health and safety and ability to work towards and achieve level 3 health and safety apprenticeship
  • A minimum of 5 GCSE's at Grade C or above or equivalent
