We are an award-winning company and one of Europe's leading designers and manufactures within the engineering sector.

We employ over 220 staff in the UK and Overseas and due to growth are seeking a Logistics Manager to join our organisation based In Frimley,Surrey.

Reporting directly to the Operations Director and managing a team of approx. 15 staff across despatch administration, goods inwards and warehouse team.


This is a brand-new role within the business and will involve full responsibility for the people, procedures, and processes within the goods inwards and despatch department.

This will include managing, motivating, and engaging the teams to meet businesstargets.


To be successful for the role you will need to have previous experience in a Logistic Manager role or similar management role within goods inwards and despatch with proven people management experience and experience with worldwide imports and exports.

Youmay be currently working as a Warehouse Manager, Stock Manager, Supply Chain Manager or Operations Manager and seeking an opportunity to progress your career with a larger international local company,


In return we can offer Monday to Friday working with the hours of 8.30am - 5pm with a 4pm finish on Fridays, an attractive salary of up to £55k plus profit share related bonuses, 24 days holiday and benefits to include; enhanced pension, paid volunteeringdays, free parking, uniform, retail discounts, gym discounts, car maintenance scheme and more.


The key responsibilities will involve:

Performance Management and Training:


  • Manage and conduct appraisal process with all permanent team members
  • Provide regular constructive feedback to individuals and the team regarding their performance
  • Address performance issues quickly, candidly and constructively
  • Manage capability and conduct issues with the assistance of HR
  • Identify training and development opportunities for the team
  • Ensure mandatory courses are completed on time
  • Absence management with company policy; to include sickness and annual leave
  • Promote and drive continuous improvement within the teams
  • Responsible for HSE compliance and improvement activities for the Team.

Leadership and communication:


  • Lead by setting a good example
- behaviour consistent with our Behaviours and Values.

  • Act as an interface between the team and others in the business
  • Clear delivery of key messages to the team (including explanation of any goals, plans and roles)
  • Regularly reporting both to own team and upwards to their line manager
  • Reputation management

Team Specific:


  • Understanding the company product and service needs
  • Despatch picking and packing activities for despatch
  • Customer and supplier communications relating to all shipping activities
  • Organise & track movement of goods out and inwards ensuring delivery or receipt to required schedule
  • Ensure compliance to all import and export legislation including documentation and records
  • Plan and organise warehouse units for finished goods and bulk storage of components
  • Selection of freight providers and services ensuring quality and competitive prices
  • Remedy transportation and packing issues and complaints
  • Track stock levels to ensure availability for Production departments

Objectives/Goal Setting:


  • Clearly communicate required tasks, agree deadline and monitor achievement
  • Set and agree SMART objectives for individuals/team and monitor performance against these

Recruitment:


  • Manage recruitment with the assistance of HR
  • Ensure a successful induction process for new starters


This is an exciting new role whereby the successful individual can make this role their own and bring with them proven experience and people management.

We would ideally like the successful individual to have experience within a manufacturing or engineeringenvironment and a relevant qualification in logistics or supply chain however, this is not essential.

What is essential is the ability to manage a team, demonstrate experience in a similar Logistics role and have proven experience within import and export.
