Reed Scientific are recruiting for an Analytical Chemist with experience of LC-MS systems. This is a permanent opportunity with a company that offers a career development plan for each of it' employees. The vacancy has come about due to internal promotionand can be full time or part time.


The role


Responsibilities of the LC-MS Analyst will encompass the whole analytical process, including sample extraction to data analysis and then the reporting of results.

You will also work with senior analysts to develop methods in line with industry and commercialrequirements.

Responsibilities in the role

  • Carry out trace organic analysis on a wide range of samples according to established procedures.
  • Operate single and triple quadrupole LC-MS instruments alongside other laboratory equipment.
  • Work in conjunction with extraction staff to ensure samples are prepared for analysis according to customer requirements.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot LC-MS instrumentation and other analytical equipment.
  • Prepare samples, solutions and reagents following standard laboratory formulas and procedures.
  • Process and interpret analytical results for entry onto LIMS.
Experience required

  • A degree in Chemistry or a related discipline such as Forensic Science or Biochemistry
  • Experience of working within an accredited analytical testing laboratory, ideally within the environmental sector.
  • Experience and understanding of single and triple quadrupole LC-MS systems operating in both electron impact and chemical ionisation modes.
  • Use of Agilent Chemstation and Masshunter software.
  • Experience of sample preparation techniques such as liquidliquid extraction and solid phase extraction.
  • Experience of routine maintenance and troubleshooting of LC based systems.
