SUPPORT WORKER - £11.00 PER HOUR


Various hours, part time, full time, occasional evenings and weekends, opportunities to work in multiple locations across Bradford and Keighley.


  • We have a full time and part time vacancies based in the centre of Braford supporting people with outdoor activities and connecting with wider community in a range of activities including fishing, swimming and other sporting events including new ventures in the future. Part of this role we are also looking for drivers it is desirable but not essential that you hold a driving licence for the people carriers and D1 minibuses.
  • We have a full time and part time vacancies based in the Keighley area supporting people with centre based and outdoor activities enabling people to connect with their local and wider community in a range of activities including, drama, song and dance, swimming, and other sporting activities.
  • We also have exciting opportunities within our local small holding facility, The Ranch, where we support people with most aspects of animal care and husbandry. As part of this role, it is desirable but not essential that you hold a driving licence, as we are also looking for drivers for D1 minibuses.
New Choices is a new company owned by Bradford Council.

From 1st April 2022, New Choices will be delivering day services and support to approximately 550 across the district in 27 locations and supported by 270 staff.

This is a very exciting time for learning disability services in Bradford as New Choices will be transforming the way in which day services operate.

This job is important because:
At New Choices staff are trained to support people using Person-centred Active Support (PCAS), namely:

  • Making sure that you support people to be as involved as possible in every moment of their lives
  • Offering people opportunities to be involved as often as possible, in the way that best suits them, e.g. as little or as much as they like
  • Offering 'just enough' support to ensure people succeed
  • Ensuring that people, you support make as many choices as possible, so they remain in control
  • Keeping the people we support and yourself safe by following government and industry guidelines and wearing the correct PPE at all times

The role holder will

  • Support people with learning disabilities to the highest standard and in line with their support plan, cultural needs and wishes
  • Support people with personal care if required, which may include toileting and bathing, in line with their support plan
  • Support and encourage people to make choices and life decisions in line with the Mental Capacity Act requirements
  • Assist and encourage people to engage in everyday home, social, leisure and work-related activities, according to the individual's choice
5. people with their health needs as required, e.g. taking medication and liaising with their carers if they are unwell or have changing health needs


  • Keep accurate and up to date records using internal IT systems
  • Support people with their finances when accessing day time opportunities with New Choices, where necessary, and in line with New Choices guidelines.
  • Promote health, safety and well-being of the people we support
  • Work positively with colleagues, families and external organisations and professionals.
  • Look for opportunities to use Personalised Technology to increase people's independence
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times
  • Improve the support provided by discussing any new ideas
  • Participate in learning and development opportunities as required
  • Safeguarding - protect the people being supported from abuse/poor practice by undertaking Safeguarding Adults Training so you understand how, when and who to report concerns to
  • Adhere to and maintain New Choices Health and Safety policies, standards and guidelines at all times
  • Carry out a range of duties and undertake any other duties as specified from time to time in accordance with New Choices business requirements
