Join Our Team


Primarily focused on the London office (SIMA Syndicate 1945 and Third Country Branch) but with an expanding remit across the Group, you will support all aspects of Exposure Management.

You will report to the Risk Lead - Bermuda, but working closely with the International Chief Risk Officer (London) and the Global Chief Underwriting Officer.


Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading, setting the direction and monitoring the delivery of the EM function for SIMA;
  • Contributing to the development of the Group EM function;
  • Developing and maintaining the EM framework, including policy and process documentation;
  • Developing exposure management processes and tools for new lines of business and emerging risks, including natural and nonnatural catastrophe exposures and accumulations;
  • Providing information, insights, and analytics to the business on an individual risk and portfolio basis;
  • Monitoring of accumulation risk limits against thresholds;
  • Oversight of EM data capture, aggregations, concentrations of risk and reporting procedures;
  • Coordinating the development and validation of tools and processes relating to the Exposure Management Function;
  • Providing exposure management feeds and validation for the SIMA Internal Model;
  • Provision of relevant exposure management reports; including Lloyd's and regulatory returns, reporting to relevant committees, the Board, and third parties;
  • Representing the Exposure Management function at appropriate committees and forums;
  • Maintenance of minimum standards (RIO) for SIMA in respect of Exposure Management;
  • Any other duties as reasonably required.

Your skills and abilities should include:

  • A track record of developing, implementing, and maintaining effective solutions in the exposure management space.
  • Depth of understanding of appropriate classes of business insurance; experience in "nonmodelled" lines of business is advantageous
  • Demonstrable skills with SQL programming is desirable; an additional programming language (R/Python/VBA) would be a bonus
  • Thorough working knowledge of processes and procedures in respect of syndicate catastrophe modelling systems. AIR experience highly desirable.
  • Experience working within a regulated company (PRA/FCA) with a solid understanding of Lloyd's and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • The ability to collaborate and develop trusted working relationships with stakeholders and other team members
  • Effective time management skills and a willingness to work on multiple projects with multiple stakeholders, in a rapidly changing environment
  • A keen focus on accuracy, timeliness, and attention to detail
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
