Financial Accountant (12m FTC), Central London - Theatre, up to £55,000

Key Responsibilities:

  • To have responsibility for the preparation of a highquality monthend balance sheet file.
  • Responsibility for ensuring a complete set of reconciliations has been produced
  • Be part of the Finance department's drive to improve processes and procedures that enhance the efficiency of the general control environment
  • To use the finance systems to interrogate financial information, prepare financial reports, and post journals.
  • Responsibility for preparation of the cash flow forecast.
  • Bank administration
  • To assist the Financial Controller with treasury management and associated reporting.
  • To be responsible for reconciling the credit card and cheque takings against the bank on a daily basis, reviewing the daily reconciliations prepared by the Finance Officers.
  • To be responsible for ensuring that the sales ledger's general administrative tasks are carried out, including archiving, statutory record maintenance and filing.
  • To manage and develop the Financial Officer's, holding regular one to one meetings, reviewing work done and objectives regularly, and conducting annual appraisals.
  • To assist the Financial Controller and the Finance Director in the preparation of financial statements and in all aspects of the interim and final audit.
  • Prepare the corporation tax workings needed to calculate the gift aid payments required between the organisation's entities.
  • Prepare the annual PSA returns for review and submission.
  • Review the quarterly VAT returns and reconciliation for review and submission, suggesting
- improvements as necessary - acting as a VAT champion, covering partial exemption and capital goods scheme.

  • Prepare quarterly FEU returns and reconciliations for review and submission.
  • Prepare monthly and annual mandatory National Statistics for review and submission.

Key Skills & Qualifications:

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA) with experience in a financial accounting (or equivalent) position
  • Experience of VAT and other Charityrelated technical issues e.g. Charities SORP requirements would be a distinct advantage.
  • Excellent technical accounting skills, including a thorough grasp of the concept of double entry profit and loss statements and balance sheets, including accounting for accruals, prepayments and accrued and deferred income.
  • Experience with SUN, Sharperlight and Proactis would be desirable.
  • Experience of managing or developing staff is desirable.
  • Highly organised and motivated, with strong attention to detail, and the passion and ability to develop, streamline and improve financial and administrative systems and controls.
