Description
To work as part of The Paediatric Play Team. Supporting a seven day a week service to deliver the best possible care.

To maintain a safe, child-focus environment where play occurs naturally.

To provide play for normalisation for infants, children and young people attending hospital in our inpatients and outpatient's departments

Play


To organise and supervise play activities for individual and groups of children and young people in hospital, according to their individual needs and as part of the overall plan.

To offer play support to siblings.

Provide distraction techniques and support for children undergoing procedures and treatments.

To plan a programme of daily play activities for the playroom or outpatient play area.

Communication

To establish effective communication, both verbal and written with children/families and all members of the multidisciplinary team. Referring information to seniors when appropriate.

To provide play based observations to support the overall assessment of the child.

To be aware of safeguarding policies and document and refer accordingly.

Attend Multidisciplinary team meetings when appropriate, in accordance with Paediatric Play Team guidelines.

Patient/customer care (both direct and indirect)

To support the Play team to provide a positive hospital experience for both inpatients and outpatients.

To be an advocate for the child and family and representing their needs to the wider MDT.


To support the MDT in overall clinical Care of the child by providing Play as a medium to support positive interventions and interactions.

We are a well established, motivated team with links across site to Harefield Hospital.


A New opportunity has arisen in the team and we are looking for an enthusiastic new team member to help take the service forward into the Trust's new developments within cardiac and respiratory care.


You will be based on our busy Paediatric Unit at Royal Brompton Hospital, where you will have Play opportunities supporting children with a range of cardiac and respiratory conditions including cystic fibrosis.

You will work on the ward, Paediatric intensive Care, High Dependency and Outpatients.
