Hanson Wade Group is a fast-growing business intelligence provider and established events business. We work across the Life Science, HR, and Construction sectors, providing over 300 world class events each year. Our mission is to support the industry through our extensive event portfolios and data products.

We are looking for someone to lead our Delegate Sales team as we continue to expand.


As a Head of Delegate Sales, you will manage an established sales team comprising of 3 Divisional Heads, 2 Sales Managers, 5 Team Leaders and approx sales reps.

The team will be expected to grow by an additional 30% in headcount during 2024.

You will be required to develop a high-performance team to continuously grow revenue and achieve sales targets (2024 Annual Number ~£35m).

You will be accountable for executing Sales Strategy and therefore Sales Operations, People Management & Development, Reporting & Forecasting.


About the Role

  • Build and execute the delegate sales strategy to support the company in achieving its commercial and cultural objectives.
  • Build end to end people strategy: hiring, onboarding, training, performance management, retention.
  • Work with senior stakeholders across the business to deliver cross functional projects.
  • Identify areas for business improvement and implement the right processes, systems, resources, and training.
  • Build reporting and KPI tools that generates comprehensive data sets which provide a base for decision making in all areas of sales.
  • Build a culture that drives the attraction, development, and retention of people, aligned with the commercial goals the company is looking to achieve.
  • Build a people progression methodology and process that supports our meritocratic values.
  • Develop and progress the skills within the management team.
  • Build and execute a comprehensive sales training program that is aligned with the different competency levels of the employees.
  • Lead workforce planning and recruitment of sales staff in line with company's resource requirements (including executing graduate assessment days).
  • Identify key staff for succession planning and future development.
  • Attend weekly management meetings, reviewing data and making decisions to influence results on our products.
  • Run weekly and monthly department meetings.

  • Proven track record in successfully executing strategic campaigns leading to additional revenue or business improvement.
  • Experience hiring, training, coaching and mentoring salespeople/managers.
  • The ability to manage resources
  • Monitors and contributes to the effective management of the organization's resources.
  • Strong leadership skills to unite the department and cross functional teams to achieving a common goal.
  • Motivational skills to ensure people and teams are operating to their maximum capacity and potential. High emotional intelligence to manage people and cross functional relationships.

About you

  • At least 4 years of working experience in a highlevel B2B sales position in a fastpaced and dynamic business environment.
  • A robust track record of exceeding sales targets.
  • A history of implementing process and systems to help organisations and teams' scale.
  • 3+ years' management of 40+ sales staff, including managers.
  • Proven track record and accomplishments at management Level. Strong competency using Salesforce.
