Description
Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen to become part of a new and growing Risk Outside the Home (ROTH) Team.

This new team aims to offer intensive support to children aged up to 18 who are experiencing or considered to be at risk of extra-familial harm, such as exploitation, missing, peer-on-peer abuse, trafficking and/or modern slavery.

Support will take a whole-family and relationship-based approach in order to promote safety for the child.

About the role

These two new roles will help us further develop our safeguarding response to children who experience extra-familial harm across North Somerset.

You will be joining a small, innovative and supportive team who are truly committed to safeguarding children.

There are two vacancies on offer; both of which are full-time and may require the successful applicants to work outside of normal office hours, including evening and weekend work.

2 x new JG6 (Level 6) Family Support Worker posts - 1
FTE (fixed term for 12 months) and 1 FTE (0.5 permanent, 0.5 fixed term for 12 months)

Within this role, you will be providing direct work to children and families (mostly on a one-to-one basis, but group work may also be required) who are receiving support from Children's Social Care.

You will therefore be required to work collaboratively with allocated social workers, as well as the other professionals and agencies involved with families.

Valid driving licence and own transport, or be able to provide alternative, suitable method of travel is an essential condition for this role.

About you

The postholders will have experience of building strong and meaningful relationships with children and families and will be committed to working from a trauma-informed and strengths-based approach.

A good understanding of the Contextual Safeguarding approach is also essential.
