Unix Engineer - Outside IR3- Edinburgh / Hybrid

  • 6month initial contract

  • Outside IR35


New opportunity to the market for an Infrastructure Engineer with a seasoned Unix / Linux background to work for a large Edinburgh-based client - joining the existing global team as they continue their transformation journey.

The primary aim is to assistin the design and build of a new UNIX platform an improve the existing environment / setup.


You will Develop and strengthen automation to support disaster recovery activities as well as support for the existing UNIX infrastructure.

Further support will be required across VMware Automation administration and Support and deployment of Ansible Towers.


Skills and Experience Summary;

  • Unix
  • RHEL 6/7/8 System administration
  • Solaris administration
  • Red Hat Satellite administration
  • Unix
Automation

  • Jenkins
  • Shell scripting, specifically Bash and Perl
  • Ansible, including Ansible Tower deployment and administration
  • Load Balancer technologies
  • Grafana, Nagios and InfluxDB
  • Familiarity with Agile working practices
  • Cyber Essentials Plus methodology
  • Effective team working and technical decision making
  • Designing and leading infrastructure projects
  • Strong documentation skills
  • DevOps practices, including automation of infrastructure
  • Stakeholder Management
