  • This is an exciting and challenging job share opportunity that puts you at the heart of enforcement in the Northeast. The SEnfO has oversight of all enforcement activity in their Area and understands the resource capability and relative priorities.

You will:

Advise the Deputy Director, lead Enforcement AEM, Team Leaders and Legal officers so that they are confident that appropriate enforcement actions are taken.

You will get outcomes through others and will track the progress of enforcement actions and facilitate their conclusion in a timely and business-like way, in accordance with the Enforcement Sanctions Guidance and the Governance Operational Instruction.

You will work closely with officers to ensure their investigations follow the revised enforcement strategies and in line with the 4P enforcement model.

As a job share you will have your own portfolio of work, assist in the overall success of the governance process, and help with the delivery of Governance meetings.

Routine travel within Area and occasional travel out of Area to other venues is expected.

  • The team
  • This is an area role that is stationary within the Enforcement Team in the Regulated Industry and Enforcement Department. The Northeast Area Enforcement Team includes Fisheries and Environmental enforcement. The team leads on serious and significant investigations, prevent, and disrupt serious and organised criminality and provides specialist support and advise to Area colleagues on enforcement tools and tactics.


  • Experience/skills required

  • Knowledge of enforcement tools and legislation (PACE, CPIA and RIPA).
Be competent in the use of data systems such as SharePoint and CMS.
Knowledge of offending in waste and installations
The ability to influence others at a senior level.
Give advice and guidance as to the wide range of options available in terms of enforcement opportunities
Ability to monitor records to maintain overview of enforcement activity across the Area.
Experience in using data and qualitative feedback to identify capability issues.
Experience in compiling complex reports.
Experience in preparing submission of documentation to EA legal services.
Ability to Quality assure complex files and deliver the appropriate feedback.
The ability to support the development of investigation plans for significant/serious contraventions.
