An exciting opportunity has arisen for the right person to take on the delivery of a wide range of animal licensing activities.

It is a specialist area of work and this role will develop your abilities to lead on Animal Licensing, on a day-to-day basis, in our busy Licensing team.

This is a key role to help strengthen our Licensing team and One Team commitment to achieving high standards of service delivery, whilst supporting our licensed establishments in providing excellent welfare to animals in their care.

What you'll be doing

  • Enabling businessfriendly regulatory advice and support
  • Inspecting existing (and prospective) licensed premises and delivering compliance advice, warnings and also proportionate enforcement, where necessary
  • Dealing with complaints regarding existing licensed premises
  • Investigating unlicensed animalrelated business activities
  • Ensuring premises meet the minimum legal standards, whilst encouraging and securing improvements towards higher standards of animal welfare
  • Playing a key role in development of a One Team approach for animal licensing and service delivery for the Food, Safety & Licensing Team.
  • Taking action in line with the One Team enforcement policy, including drafting reports and making recommendations for further action, as well as obtaining and acting on legal advice, when required.
  • Working with other stakeholders, such as Norfolk Trading Standards, Police, other local authorities and animal welfare organisations.

You must have

  • Level 3 Award for Animal Licensing Inspectors (or be willing and have the capability to complete this essential qualification enrolment on a suitable course and opportunity for study would be provided)
  • Excellent people skills and be an effective verbal and written communicator, with the ability to work in sometimes challenging environments
  • Demonstrable experience of investigating complaints, as well as providing support and advice to businesses
  • Full Driving Licence
