The role
We are looking for a capable and experienced individual to advocate for us within a court setting. This role will be based in South and would involve covering court locations in such as Bexley and Kingsmead. Its worth noting the Income team work collaboratively and the team support each other across South, Midlands and East.

We are ideally seeking for someone with a housing background within debt recovery. You will have managed arrears cases both over the phone and / or face to face. You will be robust, pragmatic and professional in your approach. You will have excellent communication skills and be able to articulate a clear message in challenging circumstances.

You will be flexible in your approach to work and be able to travel to meet the requirements of the role.


This role is part of Customer & Communities where you'll help us to lead the way keeping our promise to more than 100,000 customers.


What you'll achieve

  • Attend at court, representing Orbit, when we need to proceed in a legal capacity.
  • Prepare all court documentation on a case by case basis.
  • Work across the Income team and wider internal teams to ensure all information is accurate
  • Be able to review case notes and make effective decisions with a commercial mindset.

What you'll bring

Essential skills

  • An understanding of best practice in arrears collection and of related legal issues
  • A good understanding of domestic budgeting, debt management, welfare reform and benefit regulations
  • Understanding of housing law, legislation, CPR for both mandatory and discretionary possession grounds.
  • Experience in dealing with and / or understanding, court etiquette, case law, court directions & Equality Act particularly in relation to debt recovery including the county court process.
  • Excellent IT skills ability to prepare and review case files.

Desirable skills

  • Extensive experience in court representation
  • Relevant legal qualification
