Description
These posts offers an exciting opportunity for ambitious and committed Consultants in Diabetes & Endocrinology.

The expansion of the existing Consultant workforce will allow us to develop new and innovative approaches in the delivery of patient care to meet an increasing local demand for specialist Diabetes and Endocrinology services.

We are seeking to appoint motivated and enthusiastic colleagues to work with the existing team in NHS Ayrshire and Arran.

The new posts will provide a unique and exciting opportunity to be involved in shaping the future of the service.

Situated on the beautiful Clyde Coast, Ayrshire & Arran is great place to live and work.

There are a wealth of beaches, golf courses, bustling market towns and stunning scenery to explore, yet University Hospital Crosshouse is still within 35 minutes by car from the centre of Glasgow.

The post-holders can expect to see a wide and unfiltered range of clinical presentations. The Diabetes and Endocrinology Service provides a broad range of specialist services across NHS Ayrshire and Arran. The service functions as an integrated team and all members contribute towards the provision of out-patient and in-patient care. The duties of the posts are purposefully biased towards the provision of specialist out-patient activity in Endocrinology & Diabetes.

The posts also includes an ongoing rotational commitment to the supervision of an 8-bedded in-patient Diabetes & Endocrinology Acute Assessment area, receiving duties in the Combined Assessment Unit and participation in the out of hours general medical on-call rota (1:7 weekends and 1:21 nights).

Dynamic investigations and other day case activities are supported by the Medical Day Unit.

There is an active programme of postgraduate education in which all doctors are invited and encouraged to participate.

Appropriate time, support and development will be provided to allow the successful individuals to flourish and realise their professional and personal ambitions and to shape the future clinical service.

The post holders will also provide ongoing leadership and training in the expansion of innovative training posts that are community facing which offer exciting opportunities for doctors within the GP training programme and Clinical Development Fellows to work at the interface between Acute, Community and Primary Care Services, within a multi-disciplinary team.

NHS Ayrshire and Arran have built a new and supportive development programme for new consultants which provides additional management training to those in their first Consultant post.

There is also a strong focus on staff wellbeing within the Board.

Interviews are scheduled for 11th March 2024 in the Afternoon, 13pm onwards.
