Textiles Inspection Supervisor (Standfast & Barracks)


We have an exciting opportunity for a Textiles Inspection Supervisor to join our prestigious fabric manufacturing site, Standfast & Barracks (part of the iconic Sanderson Design Group plc).

As a Textile Inspection Supervisor, you will coordinate and manage the efficiency levels within the inspection area while continuously looking to improve the ways of working.

You will control and monitor the shift movements and performance throughout the area.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and support inspection team
  • Organise and prioritise departmental WIP
  • Attend required meetings daily team briefings, production and quality meetings (others depending on request)
  • Produce and report departmental daily production figures and late orders report
  • Departmental paperwork checking accuracy of inspection reports and verifying orders. Ensure any discrepancies or roll allowances are recorded and fed back to Customer Services
  • Producing internal mender cards for reprocessing stock
  • Assess shade and quality queries, make decisions on pass/submit/reprocess/D&K and action accordingly
  • Take part in Continuous Improvement projects and courses when required
  • Collect quality data, paperwork and samples for feeding back to Quality Manager and other departments
  • Communicate with dyehouse operatives to discuss options related to shade queries
  • Support Customer Services with queries
  • Provide support to Technical & Quality team with investigations and queries
  • Ensure Standards, library patterns and continuity patterns are taken and processed accordingly
  • Reinspection of returned or queried stock when required
  • Produce monthly shift rotas
  • NCR investigation and involvement with team
  • Investigating returned stock and assigning to relevant examiner. Feeding back to Quality/Customer Services when complete
  • Support the Makeup team with any technical issues on inspection software
  • Ensure Customer SOPs are kept up to date and issue out to inspection machines
  • Controlling stock and resource levels for the Makeup department
  • Issuing stores/job notes for the Makeup department
  • Involvement with annual stocktake
  • Responsible for Health & Safety, ensure machine SOP's and Risk Assessments kept up to date
  • Involvement in H&S audits, walkarounds, completing near misses in line with targets
  • Overseeing inspection of critical product when required
  • ERP involvement ongoing training and support surrounding implementation of new system
  • Control ADP and Payroll for inspection and warehouse operatives

Measures of Success

  • Feedforward goals and objectives
  • Zero accident rate in the area and reports on near misses (H&S targets)
  • Achievement of DOT, inspection targets and reduction of returns
  • Achievement of NCR completion
  • Quality targets in the above areas returns, complaints etc
  • Instrument team briefs and feedback forums

Experience & Skills

  • NVQ level 2 in team leadership
  • Health & Safety Training (IOSH)


  • Microsoft skills

  • Predominantly Excel, word and PowerPoint
  • Understanding of quality control
  • Experienced people manager
  • Good communication skills
  • Customer orientation
  • Strong relationship skills and building of relationships
