£31,809 - £37,422 depending on skills & experience

As a Junior Network Design Officer, you'll be part of a team that undertakes a range of design and planning activities associated with the HSE mains replacement programme, ensuring that all works are undertaken in accordance with safety, commercial, technical and legislative policies and procedures.


You will be assisting the Design Officer in the production of detailed designs for the 5-year replacement and diversion workload requirements with a focus on producing designs that are safe, cost effective, technically efficient and customer focused.

You will also contribute to ensuring that all designs leaving the Investment Planning Office (IPO) design function are compliant.


What you'll get to work on

  • Support the technical designers and planning staff to provide a full range of network design facilities, including an estimating, costing and project preparation service.
  • Working as an integral part of the West Midlands IPO Design Team, produce design deliverables aligned to Design Principles whilst ensuring compliance with relevant company and statutory obligations, policies and procedures and safety case.
  • Assist the Design Officer with onsite visual surveys to inform design and produce right firsttime deliverables.
  • Utilise network models and propose extensions and modifications to the system so that the network remains fit for purpose whilst ensuring the designs you create ensure business opportunities are realised.
  • Contribute to robust multiyear replacement and reinforcement schemes to ensure that key RIIO metrics associated with these programmes are delivered.
  • Ensure all schemes designed by you for replacement and nonunit cost projects are designed and developed in accordance with requirements.
  • Support liaison with Highways Authorities and other agencies.
  • Leading by example, in conjunction with the safety and delivery functions, ensure a proactive safety and compliance culture and zero tolerance for accidents and selfinflicted incidents at all levels within the design workforce.

Who are we looking for

The following skills and experience are required:

Qualifications:


  • Valid UK Driving Licence
  • Degree or equivalent relevant experience in Design of Networks.
  • Minimum HNC in an Engineering Discipline or equivalent experience

Experience:


  • Experience of operating within a technical team on complex replacement schemes
  • Conversant in legislation, policy and procedures associated with the design process such as the Pipeline Safety Regulations, MSL/1, REP1, REP2, NP10, NP14, NP18 and NP3
  • Experience in the use of network design, modelling and risk management tools such as ESRI, MRPS, GBNA, MRP and GDFO.
  • Experience of managing relationships with both internal and external interfaces.
  • High level of customer, communication and influencing skills.
  • An understanding of the RIIO regulatory framework.
  • Excellent attention to detail and Planning and organisational skills.
  • Skilled at data management.
