An exciting opportunity has arisen in Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust's (CNTW) North Cumbria Inpatients. The role will be for a Peer Support Supervisor (PSS) for the Inpatient (CBU) within the North Cumbria Locality.

Applicants should have substantial experience working within a Peer Supporter Role within an NHS setting and will be confident in taking on mentoring responsibilities within the Peer Supporter Network in CNTW as well as being actively involved in the coordination and facilitation of a range of Trust-wide learning and development activities specific to Peer Support.


The Peer Support Supervisor role is a vital part of our plan to continually improve the service that we provide.

The principal role of the post will be to support the recruitment, induction and development of our Peer Supporters who work into the Inpatient wards within North Cumbria Inpatients.


This is a unique opportunity to work as across different services, utilising your experience as a Peer Supporter to support newly recruited and existing Peers within their place of work.


This will be a challenging, but rewarding role, working with a variety of multidisciplinary teams, due to this the post holder must have considerable experience of working in a range of health and/or social care settings as a Peer Supporter.


The role of Peer Supporter Supervisor (PSS) will support and contribute to the continued development and growth of Peer Support with their designated locality/Community Business Unit.


The post holder will have a considerable level of autonomy and be required to develop effective close working relationships with Peer Supporters, their managers and teams, and the Involvement Service.


The PSS role will support in the recruitment, induction, development and appraisal of Peer Supporters as well as co-ordinate their mentorship and training in order to support them to meet competence requirements.


High quality individual mentoring will be given to Peer Supporters and Senior Peer Supporters, including group supervision sessions and working alongside newly recruited Peer Supporters within their place of work, to support them in establishing their role within multidisciplinary teams.


The PSS will be actively involved in the coordination and facilitation of a range of Trust wide learning and development activities specific to peer support.

This will include the delivery of the 'Peer Support Team Preparation' presentations, WRAP, Formulation, as well as the Service User and Carer Leadership and Development Programme
(internally and through recovery colleges).
