About our Team

We have an opening in our vibrant and collaborative Cell Press cross-journal editorial team.

Our editors work with multiple journals in the Cell Press family, and contribute to various initiatives aimed at improving the author experience, such as article transfers and Cell Press Multi-Journal Submission.

They also support specific journals with manuscript handling. We have team members in the US, Europe and China.

About the Role


You will be supporting editors and authors optimize overall publishing success and work on cross-journal projects and initiatives for Cell Press.

This role will include manuscript handling for our journal _Trends in Biotechnology_. We are interested in scientists with a background in applied biology or bioengineering.


Desirable expertise include:

  • Synthetic biology
  • Genome editing
  • Tissue engineering, biofabrication
  • Microbial engineering, metabolic engineering
  • Plant "new breeding", agricultural engineering
  • Biomanufacturing
  • Biosensors, bioelectronics

Responsibilities:


  • Assessing submitted research papers and guiding them through peer review for _Trends in Biotechnology _and other journals
  • Commissioning and editing content for _Trends in Biotechnology _and other journals
  • Supporting authors through the process of peer review
  • Establishing relationships with researchers who are publishing with our journals
  • Building effective working relationships with colleagues across Cell Press and beyond

Requirements:


  • Have a PhD in applied biology or bioengineering
  • Have broad scientific interests and a desire to learn
  • Have great teamworking skills and a collaborative problemsolving mindset
  • Have an interest in digital communication and publishing trends
  • Be a critical thinker and be willing to learn and absorb new areas of research
  • Possess the ability to work successfully in a diverse global team
