The A Side:

Since Chris Blackwell first started Island Records in Jamaica in 1959, it has remained one of the world's most legendary record labels and a coveted destination for new and established artists across genres.

Today, Island is home to a varied roster across the US and UK.

The B Side:
Skills & Experience


The Digital Innovation & Audience Lead will play an integral part in breaking our high-profile campaigns on the global stage.

They will work in regular collaboration with both the Marketing team and other members of the Audience team to aid best practice and implement strategic thinking, as well as being a leading digital voice within the label.

This role will co-manage the Audience team alongside the other Digital Innovation & Audience Lead, and both need to be well-versed in liaising with managers, artists and key stakeholders across the industry.

They will be responsible for delivering creative and innovative digital marketing initiatives for priority campaigns.

They will also oversee the audience and social media strategy, finding new and exciting ways to cultivate and nurture the artist communities across all online channels.


Alongside the Marketing team, the Digital Innovation and Audience Lead will strategise on single and album roll-out ideas, as well as overall tone of voice and brand values of our artists.


Be Innovative:

Implementing innovative, creative ideas within key artist campaigns:

  • Lead audience management and strategy for a small number of select high-profile campaigns. This will include overseeing an artist's presence on social media and overall strategy.
  • Work alongside the Audience and Marketing teams to ensure we are implementing innovative marketing activations, primarily for our priority established and breaking artists.
  • Be innovative with ideation for artist campaigns, particularly where it comes to content and engaging audiences online.
  • Be prepared to problem-solve
  • the landscape for our artist campaigns and tracks changes quickly. Being nimble and prepared to pivot on digital strategies is more crucial than ever.
Digitising

_ 'In real life'_ marketing moments:

  • Conceptualising and implementing the digitisation of 'in real life' marketing activations e.g. in-store performances, launch events, pop ups etc, working alongside the Audience and Marketing Managers, with the aim of producing engaging content or innovative digital moments for super fans, or to make a PR worthy moment, or both.

Be Creative:


This role will have a big emphasis on driving short-form content ideas and strategies for our artists through the label.- Ensure the label has access to a wide network of short form focused content creators, agencies, and experts.- Have experience and a deep understanding of the intersection of music and Creators/Influencers across short-form channels.


Be Focused on Direct-to-Fan Relationships & Community:

  • Understand and have a knowledge of external website developers and agencies for hi-spec artist websites where needed.

Be Influential:

  • A key member of Island's audience/digital marketing team, working closely with Marketing team, Studio Island and Streaming & Commerce teams.
  • Work closely with your fellow Digital Innovation & Audience Lead to advise the team and our artists overall strategy for fanbase building initiatives, which drive engagement and growth.
  • Set artist strategy to help create an early buzz & grow/develop audience early in the campaign.
  • Enable artists to establish their story/positioning online through social channels, short form video platforms, eCRM & Community platforms such as Discord and beyond.
  • Ensure general digital activity on artist campaigns are contextualised and broadcast to the wider label and our artist teams.
  • Ensure that you and the team provide context for the wider label team at every turn, whilst also advising and helping fellow Audience team members
