Jackson Hogg is currently looking to recruit a HR Advisor for a public sector organisation based in Hartlepool.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide efficient and effective HR Services in accordance with policies and procedures and key performance indicators.
  • Working collaboratively with the HR team and Departments, undertake corporate project work commensurate with the role.
  • Operating across multiple terms and conditions of employment, provide case management advice relating to all aspects of employment including areas such as; pay, conditions of service, redundancy, retirement, redeployment, capability (health and performance), discipline, TUPE, grievance.
  • Ensure the promotion of HR policies and procedures through the provision of advice and support including, providing managers with guidance when implementing policies and procedures promoting ethical practices (values and behaviours) and the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion aims.
  • Contribute to identified policy development linked to specialist areas such as family friendly, DBS, safer recruitment, leave management, and when required, take personal responsibility for the formulation, development and the monitoring of the operational effects of their introduction.
  • Provide mentoring, guidance and assistance to others in the team.
  • Assist and coach Managers in their operational roles through effective management of employee relations issues highlighting inclusive practices, flexibility in working arrangements with a focus on employee wellbeing.
  • Attendance at meetings, hearings, appeals, with managers, employees, trade unions and other parties for the purpose of participating in consultation /negotiations.
  • Support and advise Managers to enable the recruitment of high caliber employees following safer recruitment and EDI practices.
  • Assist in the supervision, training and development of HR Officer and Support staff, encouraging curiosity, and a learning culture.
  • Deliver management training and development as required. Contribute to the updating and monitoring of any training courses.
  • Produce detailed reports including recommendations based on an analysis of complex and sensitive information, suitable for use at Senior Management levels.
  • Produce and check calculations for redundancy payments.
  • Support the job evaluation processes to maintain consistency and equity of pay and grading.
  • Support the HR Advisors for Schools and provide cover as needed.
  • Any other duties of a related nature which might reasonably be required, and allocated by the HR Manager / Head of Human Resources.

  • Ability to deal sensitively with emotionallydemanding casework, such as ill health or redundancy situations
  • Good judgement and situational decision making skills
  • Demonstrates ethical practice
