- The University of Wales Trinity Saint David (UWTSD) is a studentcentred university, dedicated to ensuring students from diverse backgrounds develop the academic knowledge and practical skills to thrive.
The Academic Office is looking for a Head of Student Cases to lead the Student Case team based at our Carmarthen campus on a full-time, permanent basis, working 37 hours per week.
- THE ROLE
- The postholder will lead the University's Student Cases team within the Academic Office. The team is responsible for the operational delivery and effective implementation of University's Student Facing Policy Framework, which includes policies and procedures related to student discipline (including bullying, harassment and sexual misconduct), fitness to practice/study, student complaints, academic appeals, academic misconduct and extenuating circumstances.

- ABOUT YOU
- To be considered for this role you will need:
- An Honours degree
- Training undertaken in relation to one or more of the following: harassment and bullying, sexual misconduct, mental health, conflict resolution, mediation data protection
- Previous experience of working within a regulatory framework and a sound knowledge of current HE issues affecting students
- Comprehensive experience of complaint and appeals handling and/or serious cases
- Significant experience in completing sensitive investigations and drafting complex investigative reports
- Experience of supporting case panels or equivalent (e.g. committees)
- Sound knowledge of the relevant legislation (e.g. Equality Act)
- Good interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively and transparently to a diverse range of people
- Ability to demonstrate effective organisational and planning skills to meet deadlines
- Excellent IT skills
- Demonstrates a strong commitment to conflict resolution and has a balanced and grounded view
- Diplomacy and sensitivity; an ability to navigate complex situations and differing viewpoints confidentially and professionally
- Demonstrates selfmotivation and ability to work unsupervised
- Demonstrates respect for vulnerable individuals
- Able to work as part of a team and in partnership with others
It is also desirable to have:
- Experience line managing staff
- Ability to communicate through the medium of Welsh oral and written
