Technician - Materials & Testing Lab

The Aerospace & Defence Customer Technical Development (A&D CTD) team is seeking a highly motivated individual to join its Wrexham Material & Testing Lab.

The M&T Lab has a key support role in delivering product test data for Aero & Non-Aero customer qualifications, product re-sites, product development, and problem investigation & resolution activities.

Job Overview and Responsibilities

Support lab Risk Assessments (Task & Equipment based), writing and management of lab procedures, involvement in Continuous Improvement projects & 5S initiatives.
Additionally work on a variety of other tasks which may include:
Machine a variety of test coupons from panels in preparation for mechanical testing. Undertake related activities including specimen measurement, tab bonding & strain gauging.
Comply with Solvay HSE standards, procedures and 5S guidelines
Demonstrate and promote strong safety culture adherence.
Assure all data is entered accurately in company documentation and systems.
Be able to work alone, and as part of a team.
Be adaptable to changing work practices, demands and priorities.
Demonstrate high attention to detail.
Be willing to learn new skills and maintain ongoing personal development.
Excellent knowledge of composite ply cutting, laminating, fabrication & machining processes.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrate good time management, selfprioritisation and motivation.
Experience of working in a team environment.

Preferred:

Experience in composite lamination and fabrication processes (Autoclave/RTM/VBO).
Experience in paste and/or film adhesive test panel fabrication.
Experience operating cutting & machining equipment such as Ultrasonic Cutter, CNC grinder, Vertical Mill Centre, Water Jet Cutter & Composite Plate Saw.

Language and Education Skills

Must have:

Must possess the ability to read and write in English; and comprehend technical documents.
Two or more years working at an industrial/technology company.
