We are currently seeking to appoint an Academic Engagement Officer on a Full-time, permanent basis.


Job Purpose:


The overall aim of the post is to engage with students to ensure they are ready to study, as well as students who regularly fall below the minimum requirement of engagement at LSST.

Through reviewing engagement data, you will take appropriate actions in line with our retention and progression strategy. You will also be involved with all student engagement events and activities through academic support services.

Please note that there may not be an immediate requirement to carry out all the activities listed below.

  • To provide guidance and pastoral support, monitor academic progress and encourage good discipline
  • To complete administrative tasks relating to the students' assessment, attendance and academic performance
  • To keep the teaching team and personal academic tutors informed of matters relating to individuals and groups of students
  • To develop and maintain a student academic progress tracker for the relevant courses
  • To regularly contact students who fall below the required level of engagement and support them to continue with the course
  • To track student responses/outcomes and liaise with relevant departments to organise support
  • To review contact details and escalate as appropriate in line with the process
  • To support students through any onboarding challenges
  • To identify atrisk students and follow up on any actions that arise
  • To support students in any conversation/correspondence to promote their wellbeing
  • To make calls to students who have not submitted or sat their summative assessments
  • To work with the support team by signposting students who require mental and wellbeing support
  • To assist with the coordination of programme orientations and other welcome events
  • To liaise with other members, including attendance at Course Committee and other meetings relating to the course, as appropriate
  • To contribute to departmental, faculty, or LSSTwide committees, as required
  • To maintain own continuing professional development in line with LSST's expectations
  • To actively follow and promote LSST policies, including Equal Opportunities
