Audit Firm Supervision Case Manager
London/Hybrid

£

  • Do you have significant experience at a senior level (senior manager or above) in the audit and/or financial reporting of listed and other major public interest entities?
  • Do you experience of regulation and supervision within the audit profession/or in another sector
  • Are you a fully qualified CCAB accountant (or equivalent)

The Role:


  • Managing all aspects of individual cases (usually the most significant cases) including:
  • Evaluating initial information
  • Determining the nature of additional information required
  • Engaging with senior people at audit firms and companies, including leading discussions on significant /contentious issues
  • Developing an initial recommendation for approval by the Case Examiner
  • Preparation of Conduct Committee papers
  • Presenting cases to the Conduct Committee, Senior Advisors and others as required in conjunction with the Case Examiner
  • Managing the relationship with other regulators/professional bodies
  • Mentoring and developing junior staff
  • Maintaining, updating and developing policies and procedures and related templates
  • Supervision and coaching of junior team members as required

The Person:


Significant experience at a senior level (senior manager or above) in the audit and/or financial reporting of listed and other major public interest entities or experience of regulation and supervision is required for this role.


  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to assimilate others' perspectives, concerns and proposals and to convey persuasively (and with evidence, context or supporting examples) the organisations perspectives, concerns and proposals.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish credibility and to work effectively, at senior levels at audit firms, corporates, other regulators and professional bodies.
  • Excellent analytical skills both in respect of identifying and pulling together relevant information as well as ability to draw out themes and conclusions
  • Good judgement and experience of critically assessing and challenging audit working papers and other information/documentation related to individual cases.
  • Able to deal with difficult situations in a robust but proportionate manner while maintaining professional working relationships in challenging and potentially confrontational environments.
  • Comfortable presenting to audit firms and other external stakeholders in respect of individual cases and more generally in respect of the work of AFS
  • Experience of supervising more junior team members, ensuring their work is highquality and delivered on time.
  • Likely to have an accounting qualification coupled with membership of ICAEW, ACCA, ICAS or ICAI (or equivalent).
