We have an exciting opportunity to gain valuable experience in our Obstetrics & Gynaecology team for 6 Months.

The post will be based in the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department at Ormskirk District General Hospital contributing to the care of both in patients and outpatients.

The post holder will also be expected to supervise junior trainees and participate in teaching of medical students.

There is a 1:8 on call commitment to this post.

Contribute to the care of both Inpatients and Outpatients.
Provide support to the Obstetrics & Gynaecology department for urgent and emergency cases as appropriate.
Continuous care of patients in labour when on duty.
Participate in the Pregnancy Counselling Service, which is provided separately from General Gynaecology.
Participate in the teaching and supervision of the work and duties of the junior doctors in training
Assist in the compilation, checking and analysis of data for medical audit.
So far as it is consistent with the proper discharge of the above duties, the post holder undertakes to deputise from time to time for absent colleagues
The post holder undertakes, exceptionally, to perform additional duties in occasional emergencies and unforeseen circumstances.
The post holder undertakes, exceptionally, to be available for such irregular commitments outside normally rostered duties as are essential for continuity of patient care.

Southport and Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust provides healthcare in hospital and the community to 258,000 people across Southport, Formby and West Lancashire.

Acute care is provided at Southport and Formby District General Hospital and Ormskirk District General Hospital. This includes adults' and children's accident and emergency services, intensive care and a range of medical and surgical specialities. Women's and children's services, including maternity, are provided at Ormskirk hospital.

The North West Regional Spinal Injuries Centre at Southport hospital provides specialist care for spinal patients from across the North West, North Wales and the Isle of Man.

The Trust also provides sexual health services for the Metropolitan Borough of Sefton.
