You will be an apprentice with us for one year and then you will be in a position to take a role within your chosen division.

You will study towards your Level 3 Procurement and Supply Assistant qualification. After the apprenticeship you will roll off the programme into the team, taking on more responsibility. You may be able to continue your study into the specific Software Asset Management qualifications.


The Software Asset Management team is responsible for looking after and maintaining all software that is used by our Technology division, as well as a number of products in other divisions such as Finance.

The team are responsible for the licensing of this software, ensuring we are compliant to all terms and conditions of its use.

This is crucial to businesses as failure to do so may cost the business a large amount of money in fines.

Within this, the team also looks at the parameters of the licenses, ensuring they are correct models, enterprise orientated, the risks, data usage and how it is hosted.

An example of this would be Microsoft.


The team also looks at provisioning requests (requests for access to software or purchase of new software) received by the business and works with external contractors to deliver these where appropriate.

The team use a number of automated processes to deliver their services to the business. You will be working with these, as well as manually working on other processes.


Other responsibilities may include:

  • Gain understanding of SJP and its software landscape, business ownership and organizational structure.
  • Work with Software Procurement team to follow up on purchase orders and quotes raised.
  • Working with the team to achieving a high quality of service to all customers.
  • Build and develop working relationship with teams in Technology Operations.

Who we're looking for:


If you are interested in the Software Licence Apprentice role, you will need to hold a minimum of level 4 in English Language and Mathematics.

You should have an interest in learning about different software products and be eager to learn.

Other skills required to be successful:

  • Great teamwork.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft and Windows products.
  • Strong listening ability, to be able to understand technical requirements of access to SJP systems and to deliver on this.
