Description
A vacancy has arisen for a Cadet Stores Assistant (CSA) with the 1st(Northern Ireland) Battalion Army Cadet Force (ACF). This is a temporary (up to 10 months) full-time post based at Magilligan.


This post requires experience of managing a stores environment as well as facilities management and Safety, Health & Environment experience.

The successful applicant will have strong organisational, communication and IT literacy skills. A military background is not essential.

General Description:

In support of the full-time CSA and, in consultation, and with direction from, the Cadet
Quartermaster (CQM), manage the full range of equipment & stores to support the
Weekend Training Centre (WETC) and company Cadet Administrative Assistants (CAA) to support cadet detachments. The role will be based in the Magilligan Training Centre.


Support Responsibilities:

The Temporary CSA will support the delivery of the following tasks, as determined by the

CQM and permanent CSA1:
1 Receive materiel, check against documentation for quantity and quality and bring to account.

2 Maintain stock book for receipts and issues and all other relevant paperwork as per
Materiel Regulations.

3 Operate the WESTMINSTER stores package (training will be provided).

4 Complete paperwork for disposal, writes off, issues and receipt.

5 Condition returned stores for cleanliness, repair and general serviceability.

6 Submit demands for replenishment.

7 Prepare stores for issue at weekend training.

8 Prepare uniforms for issue.

9 Menu planning, food purchase & field ration accounting.

10 Carry out deliveries and collections to\from outside agencies eg: workshops, tailors etc.

11 Prepare accounts for periodic and annual inspections.

12 Dispose of packaging in line with waste management and environmental policies.

  • 1 Not all tasks will be carried out by the Temporary CSA, only those determined by the CQM/Permanent CSA._
13 Maintain stores areas in a tidy and efficient condition.

14 Stand in for the permanent CSA as required.


Specific Requirements (qualifications, equipment skills, etc):15 Essential


  • Previous stores/warehouse experience to at least City & Guilds Level 3/CILT Level 3 or equivalent.
  • Be computer literate, in particular in using MS Office suite.
  • Hold a current Cat B driving licence.
  • Hold (or able to gain) AccessNI clearance.
16 Desirable


  • SHEF & SD experience, knowledge or qualifications
  • First Aid at Work Qualified.
  • Knowledge of Security procedures
  • Experience of Transport procedures
  • Hold a current Cat C, C1 or C+E driving licence.
  • Hold a current Cat D, D1or D+E driving licence.
  • ECDL an advantage.

Other Features of the Job:


  • Attendance at Annual Camp on Mainland GB during 2 weeks in July will be required.

£22,220.00 per year
