Nottingham University Hospitals is in one of the UK's largest and busiest acute teaching hospital Trusts and has a national and international reputation for many of its specialist services and expertise.

We provide a high level of service to the adult Haematology service.

This post being one of two Advanced Practitioner posts supported by a team of Specialist and rotational clinical pharmacists and pharmacy technicians.

The successful post holder will become an integral part of the Haematology MDT jointly leading on medicines management within the specialty and providing an expert level clinical service including direct patient care in both in
- and outpatient settings.


The postholder will have a direct patient-facing prescribing role which will be defined and developed between the postholder and the specialty.

The postholder will also lead the development, management and governance of the Chemocare electronic prescribing system within adult Cancer.

  • To provide an expert level patientfacing clinical service in haematology
  • To provide leadership and management to the team of haematology clinical pharmacists providing the clinical pharmacy service to the Haematology specialty.
  • Jointly with the Advanced Pharmacy Practitioner-Haematology/ATMPs, strategically develop and lead the provision of expert clinical practice promoting safe and evidencedbased practice and contributing to improved clinical outcomes and services to patients in line with the Health Education England multiprofessional framework for advanced clinical practice
  • To be a Trustwide opinion leader for pharmaceutical matters relating to Haematology; including providing professional leadership and support to clinical pharmacists
  • Jointly with the Advanced Pharmacy Practitioner-Haematology/ATMPs lead, plan and undertake clinical audit and research within Haematology
  • To contribute to service development within the Haematology, and the Pharmacy Department
  • To provide leadership and governance of the adult Chemocare system and to manage the adult Chemocare pharmacy team
  • To be a senior member of the clinical pharmacy team and to act as a role model.
  • To provide specialist training and education on medicationrelated topics to the multidisciplinary team

We continue to extend the ideal model of delivering medicines optimisation and pharmaceutical care where pharmacists are fully integrated into the medical teams, supported by a team of medicines management technicians and assistants.

This new exciting role highlights this ethos and the impact that pharmacy services have within the specialities at NUH.


The post will be predominately based at the Nottingham City Hospital but there will be an expectation to travel to the Queen's Medical Centre campus and potentially to other trusts in the region.

You will be required to participate in a rostered flexible shift working system including evening, weekend and bank holiday arrangements over a 7 day period and support the on-call pharmacists through the senior pharmacist back-up rota.
