APPRENTICE - STREET LIGHTING


Blackburn with Darwen Council have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual to join the Highways Street Lighting division.


The service maintains and improves the boroughs lighting infrastructure together with the fabrication and installation of road signage, street nameplates, and pedestrian guardrails.

An apprenticeship offers you a great opportunity to gain a qualification whilst earning a wage and without accumulating the debts associated with study.

Real work experience is crucial as you start to build your career and by the end of your apprenticeship you will have at least two years' of working in a nurturing environment.


We also have an excellent record of retaining our apprentices beyond their apprenticeship course, securing permanent roles for those wanting to stay in the council.

Your starting salary will be £6.83 an hour in your first year.

During your second year you will remain on this amount or the minimum wage for your age, whichever is higher.

We can also offer you 26 days annual leave plus bank holidays, an excellent pension and a number of discounts including gym membership.
