Description

We are currently looking to recruit a Production Day Support Operator who will be responsible for supporting site production capabilities and ensuring that all equipment is operated in accordance with SIG's ZERO EHS impact philosophy.


Health, safety and environmental compliance is an important aspect of this position together with contributing to continuous improvement in productivity.


You will work in accordance with site standards, procedures and legislation and keep up-to-date with current requirements by participating in internal and external training.


Key Requirements

  • Supports Production Management in the daytoday operation of the production units, boilerhouse and effluent plants.
  • Gathering and analysing data to support the process of continuous improvement.
  • Completing management of change (MOC) forms to assist plant changes.
  • Writing and updating of standard operating procedures.
  • Engaging in and promoting the Company observation programme.
  • Contribute to the Operator training programme by ensuring training material is up to date.
  • Provides cover for shift operators where there is a longterm absence within the shift team after appropriate training.
  • Assist with the management of Site wastes which includes organising the removal of both bulk and drummed wastes.
  • Must be able to work a 6 on 4 off shift rota for long periods operating a Production unit.
  • Be able to load and offload raw materials and finished products providing cover for the Despatch department holidays or during periods of high workload.
  • Work with Production Management, Maintenance and Engineering to identify, address and correct root causes of mechanical downtime
  • Following appropriate training participate in plant maintenance activities using basic fitting skills.
  • Manage small projects such as tank cleaning including liaison with external contractors
  • Writing risk assessments and method statements for tasks carried out across Site.
  • Participate in event investigations and root cause analysis.
  • Education to A Levels or higher preferably within science or maths.
  • Knowledge of relevant technical equipment, reliability drivers and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Proficient execution of 5S and other lean management principles and methodologies.
  • Exercises sound decisionmaking, and judgement aligned with department objectives.
  • Knowledgeable of maintenance standards, and procedures, and accepted best practices.
  • Ability to work independently with limited direction and meet deadlines

Salary:
Up to £30,000.00 per year


Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Monday to Friday
  • Night shift
  • Overtime
  • Weekend availability

We adhere to all Plant Safety Guidelines in respect of Covid 19. We operate as a Tier 3 Covid Site.
