ROLE- Mechanical Design Engineer / Draughtsman

LOCATION- Hampshire

TERM- Permanent

SALARY- £35,000- £50,000 per annum dependent on experience (Please advise what you're looking for)

My client works within the Engineering sector, and they are looking to take on a Mechanical Design Engineer / Draughtsman, on a permanent basis, in the Hampshire area.


The Mechanical Design Engineer / Draughtsman will ideally have the following attributes:

  • HND / HNC / Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or similar
  • 4 or more years' experience working in a similar position
  • Be proficient with using CAD software such as SolidWorks, Inventor or DraftSight
  • Previous exposure to working on different sized projects
  • Any knowledge of Emissions Technology, Combustion, Bulk Materials Handling, Special Purpose Machinery would be desirable
  • Excellent level of technical understanding
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • Proficient with using MS Office
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • The ability to work well alone or as part of a team
  • Flexible to travel as part of the role up to 10% of the time

The Mechanical Design Engineer / Draughtsman role will involve:

  • Performing detailed product / design engineering for every phase of their projects
  • Using SolidWorks / Inventor CAD software regularly
  • Liaising with other colleagues in the engineering team
  • Assisting in the design review process
  • Being involved in the evaluation of new suppliers
  • Evaluating manufacturing estimates
  • Working with the Project Management Team
  • Being involved in preparing the manufacturing schedule
  • Preparing design calculations
  • Preparing installation instructions for the equipment
  • Assisting with design proposals and presentations
