We have an exciting opportunity for a Bid Writer to join our growing, dynamic team based in Bicester.

We are looking to bolster our Business Development team with an experienced Bid Writer who has previous exposure within our industry or with a similar client base (Utilities, Infrastructure).

As a Bid Writer, your main focus will be crafting compelling responses for tenders, encompassing both major framework bids and smaller operational proposals.

You will have the opportunity to work on a variety of bids with values ranging from £50k - £5m and framework durations spanning from 5 years to 10+ years, with the support of a Bid Coordinator.


As a Bid Writer you will:

  • Take ownership of the PQQ / RFI process, including downloading, collating, preparing, completing and submitting associated documents ahead of deadlines
  • Manage bid response workshops with technical delivery teams
  • Ensure that our inhouse bid process is understood and implemented to enable quality, commercial and legal requirements are consistently met
  • Write persuasive and informative content that aligns with customer requirements and highlights the benefits of Dalcour Maclaren's services
  • Collaborate with the wider bid team, internal stakeholders, and third parties to gather necessary information for creating draft proposals
  • Ensure consistency in style, language, and strategic approach throughout the proposal
  • Edit and refine content to enhance customer focus and align with bid themes
  • Manage and update databases of company information for use in PQQs, RFIs, and questionnaires
  • Establish and maintain a bid library containing standardised content
  • Produce professional submissions that reflect corporate brand guidelines and adhere to best practices
  • Motivate and manage SMEs to update content on a predefined cycle
  • Provide general administrative support to the business development teams as required
  • Develop a deep understanding of Dalcour Maclaren, fostering relationships with business leaders and group companies to facilitate bidding
  • Experience as a B2B writer, preferably in bid/tender writing
  • Ideally hold a APMP (Association of Proposal Management Professionals) qualifications
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and familiarity with CRM software
  • Exceptional written communication skills with a keen eye for detail
  • Strong proofreading and editing abilities, ensuring grammatical accuracy and errorfree content
  • Excellent organisational skills to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and collaborate with diverse stakeholders
  • Knowledge of large, regulated industry companies, infrastructure companies, and tier one contractors
  • Creativity and a willingness to approach tasks differently, bringing innovative ideas to the bid writing process
