Our local authority client has a 3-month contract vacancy (with the possibility of extension) for the role of an ASSESSMENT OFFICER (HOUSING BENEFITS AND PLANNING), details as followsJob Purpose
To assist customers by accurately determining their entitlement to Housing Benefit, Council Tax Support, Local Welfare Assistance, Social Care financial assistance and concessionary travel.
To provide first contact resolution to customers across a rangeof services and a variety of access channels, maintaining the highest standard of customer care at all times.
Responsibilities
- Processing of payments
- To validate evidence of eligibility presented by customers
- To maintain/update sensitive personal information about our customers and to keep it accurate and current, including digitising the data
- To communicate effectively within the team and provide a customer focussed service
- To operate a range of efficient administrative systems and procedures within the team that specifically supports the operation of the Concessionary Travel service.
- To carry out other such duties as may be required from time to time by the Concessionary Travel Manager.
Essential Requirements
- Knowledge and experience of providing a customer focussed advice, information, enquiry, transactions and complaints handling in a demanding customer facing environment across various access channels (face to face, telephone, post and online)
- An understanding of Housing Benefits, Council Tax Support, Council Tax and Social Care Financial Assessments
