GDA Apprentice Customer Service Assistant - work, earn and learn
The Royal Borough of Greenwich believe that all our residents have the right to live in a decent home.
The Repairs and Investment team in the Directorate of Housing and Safer Communities are responsible for maintaining and repairing the housing stock for the Royal Borough Greenwich ensuring that all our tenants have a safe decent home to live in.
We are looking for someone with a keen interest in Customer service who is eager to learn, and is driven and self-motivated to deliver high quality work for a truly unique and exciting London borough.
Professional Duties:
- As allocated by your line managers, to perform a range of level 2 or 3 duties which include specific tasks related to the level of the formal qualification.
- Work with colleagues, taking instruction, making notes and meeting the basic needs of the team.
- To deal politely with members of the public. After training, be able to deliver an acceptable level of customer service always.
- Research and collate basic data/information required both in the workplace and at college
Team Specific Tasks:
- Organise and attend meetings
- Create and update customer records on the Council's database systems, inputting accurate information and providing data and assisting in running reports
- Enter, manipulate and cleanse (statistical) data as required.
- Providing good customer service and supporting the efficient delivery of service to customers.
- Order repairs
- Take minutes
Personal Development:
- To undertake a varied programme of work experience, practical and theoretical training leading to a recognised apprenticeship qualification Customer Service Level 2 as part of an apprenticeship programme.
- To actively participate in their own development plan, which will be agreed with the line manager and the assessor from the training provider. To undertake the requirements of the academic element of the apprenticeship (e.g. attendance at college and completion of academic work). A minimum of 20% of working week will be allocated to this.
How to apply:
- be living in the Royal Borough of Greenwich _(or if you have been in the care of the Royal Borough of Greenwich but are or have been in the living outside the borough)._
- Applicants will need to demonstrate they have at least a Level 1 qualification or above in English and Maths, the GCSE equivalent at grade A*D or grade 3 and above.
- _Children 16 to 18 years who are looked after and have been for more than 13 weeks (which does not need to be all one period); AND_
- _*To care leavers who can be young people aged between 16 and 24 years (to 25th birthday) who were looked after by Children's Services for a period of 13 weeks or more since the age of 14 (which does not need to be all one period) but must include a time after the 16th birthday._
Please note:
to be eligible for funding to complete the apprenticeship qualification you must have ordinarily been a resident in the UK for at least the previous three years before the start of the apprenticeship and have the right to work in the UK.
The main eligibility criteria:
- As some young people may turn 16 between the end of June and beginning of September (they would need to wait until they are 16 before starting their apprenticeship)
- Not already qualified to the same or higher level in the same field
- Working at the specified level in maths and English required for the qualification
- Applicants who do not hold GCSE or Functional skills in maths and English will be tested for suitability
Customer Service level - you must demonstrate you can achieve level 1 maths and English
The following are acceptable forms of proof of address:
- Recent bank statement (dated within the last 3 months)
- Household utility bill (electricity, gas, water, dated within the last 3 months)
- Council Tax bill
- Official letter from the benefits agency/ HMRC
- National Insurance letter
- NHS card or letter of confirmation from your GP practice
- A rental agreement/mortgage statement for your current residence
We understand some applicants may not have the proof of address in their own name, due to for example living with parents/carers.
