The Role & Key Responsibilities

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join East Sussex RIT Teams as a PIP2 Investigations Supervisor.


Working alongside Detective and Police Sergeant colleagues you will be responsible for the supervision of the investigation of criminal offences in Sussex commensurate with PIP Level 2.

You will also manage and lead staff within the investigations teams.


This role will also require you to support the nights rota which involves providing investigative supervision support for East Sussex.

Skills & Experience

To oversee the recording of criminal offences in line with national rules and guidance.


To deliver and supervise the delivery of investigative frameworks, policies, procedures and legislative requirements in a professional and ethical manner.

To supervise the interviewing and processing of suspects in custody.

To manage a mixed team of PIP 1 investigators and police officers; delivering high quality investigations whilst maintaining a healthy and supportive environment.

Ensuring good performance management and development of people within their teams.

To manage the investigation of recorded crimes and incidents through evidence gathering.

To oversee the preparation of evidential files for court and liaison with the Crown Prosecution Service.

Applicants for this role must hold a PIP Level 2 accreditation. Be an expert in crime policies and procedures relating to criminal investigation and particularly the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984 and the Criminal Procedure and Investigations Act 1996;

expertise in PIP 2 investigations which would include, interviewing or the supervising off interviews, prisoner processing and management and the setting of investigative lines of enquiry.

Experience of managing developing staff, goal setting and performance management of a team.
