My client is a global Engineering and Manufacturing business based in Newcastle. The company is a leading player in its' sector and provides cutting edge R&D capabilities to its global business.

Providing focussed, niche technical guidance in a number of materials, the department is embarking on a range of product developments and research projects to support global developments.

The company is looking for an additional Development Engineer to work on these exciting projects.

The job:

Design and development, technical support on design and development issues.
New areas of development to help strengthen the company's position in the market place, reduce costs, improve quality and increase its product and capabilities portfolio.
Ensuring work is completed according to agreed guidelines, design rules and procedures and in a timely and efficient manner
Developing analytical techniques to predict product behaviour
Identify, plan, manage and execute Research and Development projects for existing products and future products
Contribute to identification, planning, execution and reporting of Research and Development projects
Calculations and analysis utilising relevant software.
Gain an understanding of products through development projects, investigations, observations, modelling, background reading, consultation with experts and data analysis.
Investigate the use of new and alternative materials
Generate and develop, design rules, drawings, reports, analyses, calculations, instructions, procedures, specifications, design plans and relevant documentation associated with the product.
Participate in external and internal meetings and presentations.

Qualifications and Experience:
Degree or equivalent in an Engineering discipline.

An additional 2 years' experience in an engineering or research position (commercial or academic)

Mathematical problem solving skills

The role comes with a competitve salary ranging between £30,000 and £50,000. This will be negiable depending on experience.
