Acorn by Synergie is currently seeking a Head of Geovation & Innovation on behalf of a global and highly respected company that provides national mapping services for Great Britain and is a world-leading provider of geospatial solutions.

Our client understands that not everybody's circumstances are the same, so they offer the opportunity to work from home, in their London or Southampton offices or even a combination of both
As Head of Geovation & Innovation, you're responsible for driving the success of both teams.

For Geovation, this means acting as a 'CEO' figure of an innovation-services business with P&L responsibility and accountability for the successful development and execution of the business strategy.

For Innovation, this means leading a team of technical expertsin the development of new technologies that will drive ability to deliver new products and services, as well as operational efficiencies.

You are part of the Commercial Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and have direct relationships with the Executive Committeeand the Board.


Your responsibilities will include:

  • Develop, maintain and delivering a strategic vision for contribution and value of Geovation and Innovation
  • Leading the development of a culture of cooperation and collaboration across the departments, to build sustainable and impactful innovation capability
  • Identifying new approaches or business processes that have the potential to achieve significant return on investment, drive thoughtleadership and deliver new insights
  • Develop and maintaining relationships with key external bodies, to maximise thought leadership and brand development overall
  • Executing investment opportunities and the process for earlystage companies identified through Geovation activities and from internal recommendations and market research. Leads the management of our equity portfolio
  • Creating a pipeline of products initiated by startups, that can be monetised

What we are looking for:

  • You'll be a master of influence and negotiation, working with stakeholders internally and externally to drive the best business outcomes
  • You'll have the charisma and confidence to build lasting relationships, deliver impressive presentations and engage those listening to you
  • You'll be a strong leader, motivating and engaging your team to work collaboratively and supporting them with their progression
  • You'll be a champion of agile principles and work transparently with the wider team and organisation for optimal results
  • You'll be as comfortable with the technical discussions as much as the commercial ones, and be acutely mindful of the balance between technology development and commercial outcomes
  • You will bring your external innovation expertise, leveraging your network to enhance insight and understanding and strengthen collaborative engagement across our business
