Not just another building society. Not just another job.

We're the fourth biggest building society in the UK and what makes us a bit different is that we're a mutual organisation.

We don't have shareholders, we're owned by our members.

Our colleagues say Skipton's a great place to work and you could be one of them, bringing with you new ideas on how we can keep customers at the heart of what we do.

Whatever your background, and whatever your goals, we'll help you take the next step towards a better future.

Job Description:

Job introduction

Help us to communicate and promote the Society's Mortgages, Savings, Insurance and Financial Advice products and services as our new Financial Promotions Consultant.

We're looking for someone who has a genuine interest in how people think and feel, and has an understanding of financial promotions regulation.

This is a great opportunity to support the approval of financial promotions so that they are clear, fair and not misleading.

Initially this would be a 12 month fixed term contract

Main objectives

This is an opportunity to influence our marketing and digital activity so that it is compliant with financial promotions regulation.

You'll need to demonstrate an understanding of regulation and how it relates to the promotions that we create. Be prepared to use your powers of persuasion to challenge, justify, negotiate and propose solutions.

Customers are at the heart of everything we do at Skipton, and you'll need to help us to deliver the best outcomes for them and the interests of the business when you're approving promotions.

You'll be proactive in identifying opportunities to improve how we communicate, and use your knowledge to highlight risks that might conflict with regulation.

This is a busy role with time pressures and deadlines, so balancing conflicting priorities will be part of your day-to-day.

The business will be relying on you to help approve numerous approvals so that we can deliver our corporate plan.

Building relationships and getting to know the business inside out will be the key to your success.

You'll need all the attributes required to become a trusted adviser and an ability to make complex regulation easy to understand, whether you're presenting it across a table or giving written feedback.

You will have good knowledge of financial services and ideally Mortgages and Savings and have an awareness of the financial promotions approval process.

Relevant industry qualifications are desirable to demonstrate a sound knowledge and understanding of the sector.

Not only will you be great at listening, you'll be good at interpreting queries and delivering the right response.

You'll need to be calm under pressure, resilient and ready to roll up your sleeves, to fit in with this supportive, sociable team.

The Society

When you become a Skipton colleague you'll be supported with a structured development plan and opportunities to progress your career.

The sky's the limit for proactive individuals prepared to set their own agenda.

A pension plan, life cover, generous holiday allowance, childcare vouchers and product discounts are available too - all within a high performing organisation that encourages colleagues to be curious and challenge the mainstream.

We're committed to creating a diverse and inclusive workplace where every colleague has an opportunity to fulfil their career potential.

This includes consideration for anyone seeking a more flexible work-life balance. If you have a need for flexibility then please discuss this with your hiring manager.
