As the Progressions Officer, you will be part of a dedicated and friendly team; Each year at JBC we provide hundreds of individuals with fully funded IT training courses.

We train learners who are unemployed or looking to progress in their careers.

All learners will be assigned a Progressions Officer when they enrol with us, to help develop their personal, social and employability skills ensuring they successfully progress through their course and into to their chosen career.

You will be the first point of contact for our learners giving advice and guidance on their course, supporting with any issues faced and providing individual pastoral support to help them overcome any barriers to their education.

You will also manage the behaviour and attitudes of our learners including attendance.

The Progression Officer will deliver the employability skills workshops for our IT Career Builder programmes.

These sessions are a key part of our courses and help to build our students resilience, confidence, employability skills and independence.

They also support learners in maintaining and improving their wellbeing, as well as making sure students successful complete their course.

Emphasis is given to raising learners' aspirations for positive progression routes and reaching their full potential.

Responsibilities Involve;

  • Mentoring and coaching learners through their 8week course and driving their job searching activity upon completion and as they transition into employment.
  • Gain an understanding of individual needs and barriers, evaluate the relevant steps to improve and provide the relevant support.
  • Deliver the Employability Skills training sessions both in groups and onetoone. These will typically be delivered virtually via Microsoft Teams
  • Liaise with External Agencies, Learners, Delivery Staff,
Skills and Experience

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to gain trust and motivate learners.
  • Empathy, patience, and a genuine interest in supporting learners' success.
  • Excellent time keeping, time management and organisational skills to ensure you organise your work diary efficiently.
  • Previous experience within academic advising, coaching, training, mentoring, and/or student support
  • Experienced with educational technology such as learning platforms and information systems.
  • Ideally you will have experience of working on Adult Education Budget (AEB) programmes or similar government funded provision.


To work remotely from your home you must have a quiet professional work area where you can work without being disturbed and be visible on camera.

You need a reliable internet connection capable of handling high quality video calls.

Salary:
£24,000.00-£28,000.00 per year
