Data and GIS Assistant:

BBOWT has a vision for "more nature everywhere, for everyone". We're working hard to create an inclusive culture, where everyone feels they belong.

This includes you being comfortable bringing your whole self to work, and us co-working with the diverse communities we serve to ensure we are meeting everyone's needs.

The Data and GIS Assistant will help nature's recovery by supporting quality data collection, processing and analysis.

This information is made available to guide nature reserve management and decision making within the Trust, as well as feed-in to local and national datasets used to monitor the state of nature and influence planning decisions.

The role reports to the Data and GIS Officer and sits in the Ecology Team, within our Land Management Directorate.

  • Helping with data analysis requests from across the organisation
  • Training and supporting others in the use of data and GIS systems
  • Keeping GIS information held by the Trust up to date and accessible
  • Helping the Ecology Team carry out ecological surveys
What we're looking for;

  • Techsavvy person with an interest in ecology
  • A good eye for detail and appreciation of accuracy
  • Advanced skills using Excel or other spreadsheet software
  • Experience of scripting, e.g. use of python, vba, SQL
  • Someone who can train and support others

Contract: Permanent

Hours: 35 hours per week. Flexibility in working pattern, in agreement with line manager.
