Residential Children Worker role at Edinburgh

Randstad is working to support a respite service supporting children and their families with complex learning and physical disabilities.

This is a rewarding service to work in, taking young people out of their regular routine to relax and enjoy themselves in a safe and nurturing environment.


Part-time and full-time hours are available by booking your own shifts through our app and catching up with your own dedicated consultant.

A successful Residential Children worker will be responsible for:

  • Providing 24-hour care to vulnerable young people
  • Ensure children's health, hygiene, and safety needs are met.
  • Manage challenging behavior with appropriate strategies.
  • Administering medication
  • Maintaining a professional manner and working to National Care Standards
  • Ensuring the safety and welfare of children, reporting abuse or neglect.
  • Assisting with personal hygiene, meal preparation, and supervision.
  • Supporting educational needs and activities.
  • Teaching essential life skills for independent living.
  • Have previous experience working in a residential setting with young people
  • Have flexibility in the roles undertaken
  • Experience in assisting with educational needs and activities for Children
  • Have strong communication skills
  • Register under the PVG scheme
  • Full driving license (preferred)
  • Obtained, or working towards SVQ level 3 in Health and Social Care, or equivalent desirable
