We are seeking a passionate Associate Director Acoustic and Electro Acoustics Engineer with 20+ years of work experience to join our Vanguardia Acoustics & AV team.

In this role, you'll contribute significantly to our Sports and Entertainment sub-group, delivering world-class Stadiums and performance Venues.


This role will have responsibility for overseeing the technical and financial performance of a diverse range of Sports & Entertainment projects in the UK and across the world.

You will help cultivate and maintain strong relationships with existing clients and proactively identify opportunities to expand our client base by creating new relationships.


You will lead project teams to successful project completion, ensuring projects are delivered with technical excellence meeting quality standards, deadlines and financial targets.

Alongside project delivery, you'll mentor and guide junior staff members, helping them grow in their roles, providing constructive feedback, and supporting their professional development.


Your next role:


  • Lead projects on behalf of the group (operating as Job or Project Leader as appropriate), taking ownership of sustained and productive client relationships.
  • In charge of multiple projects across the group, taking responsibility for engineering solutions.
  • Review, with the support of your subgroup leader, job financial performance and manage resources accordingly.
  • Undertake project technical/quality reviews and attend design reviews for projects. Undertake site visits as needed for the smooth operation of the project(s).
  • Contribute to group initiatives concerning technical development/market sectors and processes.
  • Maintaining awareness of project budgets and raising any concerns regarding budgetary or financial issues.
  • Ensuring project financial plans are up to date and accurate.
  • Line manage junior staff and contribute to their professional development.
  • Support the group in seeking work from new and existing clients.
  • Support and prepare fee proposals.

Your skills & experience:


  • Must be able to clearly share complex technical ideas and concepts with technical and nontechnical audiences.
  • Deep technical experience in electroacoustics and sound system design in the sports and entertainment sector.
  • Excellent calculation skills and attention to detail in checking others' calculations.
  • Inquisitive approach and capable of producing innovative solutions.
  • Driven to produce highest quality work that meets Client needs but at a profit.
  • Good communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Adaptable and prepared to offer a range of services in the long term.
  • Ability to accept a degree of responsibility for the department's success in a teambased organisation, combined with ability to work independently.
  • Experience in our target and growth sectors (Sports & Entertainment) would be highly advantageous.
  • Degree in Engineering Acoustics, Electro-Acoustics or related disciplines such as Civil or Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, Architecture, combination degrees of the former.
  • Professionally registered (CEng, IEng) with the Engineering Council UK or equivalent body.
  • Full corporate membership of the Institute of Acoustics is expected.
