We have an exciting opportunity within the Payroll department As part of the People Services leadership team, you will be accountable for defining, developing, delivering and owning the payroll strategy to maximise cost effectiveness, aligned with business needs, comply with legal requirements and to reflect current Shared Services/HR best practise benchmarks.


What do the key responsibilities in this role include?

  • Setting standards and monitoring overall service performance.
  • Leading the team and processes that support the efficient operation, control, planning, improvement and reporting of the People Services operation
  • Planning, managing and delivering a portfolio of People Services programmes and projects to drive continuous improvement through managed change, against agreed objectives, timescales, quality standards, cost constraints and benefits
  • To plan, manage and deliver projects or workstreams driven by external change or the onboarding of new business to ensure that People Services is ready for the change
  • Lead the delivery and development of the Payroll strategy, in direct alignment to the regional (UK&I) and global HR strategic business deliverables.
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory compliance and that People Services processes and systems reflect current HR best practice.
  • Responsible for the continued successful delivery of payroll via an outsourced third party, ensuring adherence to contract, driving efficiency and service improvement whilst enhancing a collaborative partnership.
  • Ensures payroll legislative compliance across DSC UK&I business units
  • Continuous improvement to drive efficiency, develop the service delivery and partnership whilst reducing the cost of payroll
  • Responsible for team development and succession planning

  • The ability to understand different business sectors and operating requirements in a complex matrix organisation
  • Good understanding of HR Shared Services operations including systems and best practice.
  • Good understanding of operational HR activity and the links and requirements for the HR Shared Service.
  • Previous payroll management experience and strong payroll technical knowledge
  • Experience of managing suppliers to targets and driving high levels of service and improvements.
  • Previous experience of managing challenging customers and situations.
  • The ability to read and analyse data in order to identify patterns and drive business improvement.
  • People Management experience
